McBride Inc., in most cases, will file these for you. Building and mass assembly permits are required in some jurisdictions, we do not file these. Check with your local town officials for instructions on how to proceed. We will provide you with all the necessary documents to help in facilitating any permit you might need. Does P.J. McBride Inc. meet all code requirements?Absolutely! Is P.J. McBride Inc. insured?P.J. McBride Inc. is fully insured. Our offices can supply you with Certificates of Insurance as well as Workman’s Compensation. When will my installation start?Installations are normally Wednesday to Friday. Sometimes during busy period we may begin installations earlier then Wednesday, you will be notified the Monday prior to your event as to the exact date and time of your installation. Will my installation be completed in one day?Usually on smaller events they are completed in one day. Depending on the size and scope of the event multiple days may be required to complete the installation. We may not work on your job site on consecutive days. You will be notified as to the time period needed to successfully complete your installation. When do you remove the equipment?Sometimes due to site restrictions same day removals are a necessity. These removals almost always are more costly. Normal removals are Monday or Tuesday. Sometimes during busy periods we may begin removals on Sunday, you will be notified if this will be the case for your event. Can I wait until the day of my event for installation?Sometimes due to site restrictions same day installations are a necessity. In some instances you may incur additional costs. For the average client we will need to install several days prior to your event. This will give the other vendors involved time to set up. Same day installations leave no room for problems such as breakdowns or accidents, which are beyond our control. Very rarely do we install the same day as the event. Will the tent equipment damage my lawn? The equipment itself will not damage the lawn. Unless you have a full floor or artificial turf it will be the guests walking on your lawn that will damage it. Full floors or artificial turf on your lawn for 5 to 7 days will brown the lawn, but with watering it should return to normal. Stakes will be driven and will leave small holes that should fill in over time. Dance floors will be similar to full floors; the lawn will return to normal. Because of the large scope of some installations some parts of your property will be damaged. This will be explained to you in detail during your sale appointment. When do I need a full floor or artificial turf?If you are having a formal black tie event with ballroom chairs you probably want to think about a full floor covered with artificial turf or carpet. The floor will stop the chairs from sinking into the ground and it will feel more elegant. If your yard has poor drainage and floods even when it only rains for a short time, you will need to think about a full floor. Full floors can be constructed of plywood, staging or Porta Path. For most events you can use just the lawn or artificial turf to stop women’s heels from sinking in the ground. Artificial turf will not prevent flooding, water will come through it. 80% of our events do not use a full floor. P.J. McBride Inc. has many varieties of flooring to choose from. Are there other choices besides plywood for a hard floor? In most cases plywood floors are used. The price of these floors usually falls between staging and Porta Path. If the floor is extremely high we will usually use staging to construct your floor. This is the most expensive alternative. You can also use Porta Path. This is a plastic mat that should only be used on hard surfaces such as tennis courts or parking lots. This is the most inexpensive alternative. What is the difference between a leveled floor and a too grade floor?Leveled floors are obviously leveled and only installed when the drop is more than18”, these types of floors are more expense. The larger the drop the more expensive the floor. Sometimes they require an engineer to sign off on its construction. Too grade floors are the most common and are less expensive. These are floors that provide a hard surface but contour to the grade of the property. Only the bounce is taken out. These floors never need an engineer’s approval. Do full floors always need turf or carpet? No. Full floors can be constructed of finished materials such as oak or finished birch plywood. These materials are more expensive to rent. Normally you would use unfinished plywood and cover it with turf or carpet; this is less expensive than using a finished material. What is the difference between artificial turf and carpet?Carpet is more attractive and also more expensive. Carpet can only be used on plywood floors. It is installed similar to the way carpet is installed in your home. Artificial turf can be placed directly on the grass as long as it is cut short. It is taped together and is not as attractive as carpet. It will stop heels from sinking into the ground and will hide unsightly areas. Once all the rentals are set up on the artificial turf it basically disappears. P.J. McBride Inc. has many varieties of artificial turf and carpet to choose from. Why do I need side walls?Walls are very important components of a tent rental. Not only will opaque walls block off unsightly areas there are also some walls that are used for decorative purposes, cathedral walls for example. Side walls will also keep the inside of your tent dry in the event of rain. Walls will also retain some body heat during cool evenings. Walls are always installed on the tent the day it is installed. P.J. McBride Inc. has many varieties of walls for you to choose from. When do I need heat or air conditioning?Usually heat is needed in the early spring, (April-June) fall and winter. (September-April) Air conditioning is only needed during the summer months. (June-September) Heat is relatively inexpensive and we will always advice you on when to rent or reserve it. Heat is supplied by us. Air conditioning is very expensive and sometimes even if rented not used. The decision to use air conditioning will be completely yours. Air conditioning will be supplied by an outside vendor. P.J. McBride can supply both propane and fuel oil fired heater for your events. Do pedestal fans work?Yes. On warm days fans will keep the air moving and make it feel cooler. Is P.J. McBride Inc. a lighting company? No. P.J. McBride Inc. is not a lighting company but we do lighting. We can do basic up lighting, pin spots, Fresnel lighting, cone lighting, streamer lights and some small chandeliers. We can supply dimmers as well as generators. We will not hesitate to let you know when the lighting you are requesting is beyond our ability. Over the years we have worked with many lighting companies and would be more than happy to give you a referral. Do I need a generator for my event? Most of the time it is not needed. For some events outlets on the house are plenty. If the power needed exceeds the homes capacity a generator can supply it quite readily. An electrician can be brought in to install temporary lines from your home. Some clients like the peace of mind that a generator brings. On larger event with restroom trailers and large bands a generator is a necessity. Does P.J. McBride Inc. rent generators?Yes. As stated before we are not a lighting company but we can supply our clients with the latest in quiet generators. All generator rentals come with an attendant. We generally don’t rent generators if we are not doing the lighting but have in some instances. When do I need maintenance personnel? We suggest any event over 150 guests should have a person from our company on site. It is always recommended that when you are using heat or elaborate lighting, with a generator, a maintenance man is essential. Sales people will advise you as to when they feel it is a necessity. Does P.J. McBride Inc. rent restrooms?Yes. P.J. McBride Inc. will only rent restroom trailers. We do not handle individual units. If all you need is individual units we will refer you to a company that can handle your needs. Is P.J. McBride Inc. responsible for paying for repairs to underground pipes and or wiring?Yes and no. If a detailed layout is provided to us prior to installation we will have limited liability. If we are not made aware of any underground utilities or you just don’t know where they are we will assume no liability. Can I put equipment on reserve?Yes. Any piece of equipment or services can be reserved for a percentage of its cost. Some goods and services can be reserved for one third the cost others one half. This means that if you use the goods or services you will be responsible for the total cost; if you decide not to use it you will be charged a percentage of the total cost. You will be given a date and time to decide by. What are your payment terms?P.J. McBride Inc. requires a minimum deposit of 10%. This deposit may be more depending on the scope of the job or the risk we are incurring. Final payment is due upon completion of the installation. All additional rentals added on after the event is invoiced will be billed as soon as possible and payment is expected immediately. What types of payment does P.J. McBride Inc. accept? We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express and personal checks. |
